PSYCHOTHERAPY

Psychotherapy is a scientifically proven treatment that can help you lead a healthier, more effective life.

Psychotherapy is a collaborative treatment based on the relationship between an individual and a therapist. Through dialogue, it provides a supportive environment that allows you to talk openly with someone who is objective, neutral and nonjudgmental. Together, we will work to identify and change the patterns that are keeping you from feeling your best.

Psychotherapy can not only help solve the immediate problems you face, but can also give you the skills to better cope with whatever challenges arise in the future.

PSYCHIATRIC MEDICATION

Psychiatric medications have a strong evidence base for treating a wide range of mental health disorders. A medical license is needed to prescribe psychiatric medications. For some conditions, combining psychotherapy and medication works best.

INDEPENDENT MEDICAL EXAMINATION

Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs) may be requested to evaluate:

The cause and extent of a work-related or other injury where liability is at issue
Whether an individual has reached maximum benefit from treatment
Whether permanent impairment remains after treatment

Dr. Christopher performs IMEs for psychiatric conditions only. IMEs are only performed on individuals who have not been previously in treatment with Dr. Christopher. There is no doctor-patient relationship for IMEs.

BUPRENORPHINE

Buprenorphine (available under the brand names Suboxone and Subutex) is a medication used to treat opioid addiction. Unlike methadone, which typically requires daily clinic visits, buprenorphine can be prescribed for use at home.

At the appropriate dose, buprenorphine treatment may:

Suppress symptoms of opioid withdrawal
Decrease cravings for opioids
Reduce illicit opioid use
Block the effects of other opioids
Help people stay in treatment

Please note that Dr. Christopher only prescribes buprenorphine for patients who are also in psychotherapy treatment with him.
